Annap. Science Cafe @ 49 West: “The Physics & Art of Guitar Making, with Dialogue After” by Paul Reed Smith

July 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

Free

Guitar making is a combination of art, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, and industrial engineering. The basis of this presentation will be how these dovetail together. Paul encourages active participation in this talk, so attendees can expect an interactive experience. We hope you will join us in person at the Annapolis Science Café at 49 West, but Zoom is available too; if interested in Zoom or other questions, email [email protected]. It is best to reserve seats for this event at 49 West by calling 410-626-9796. The event is free but you need to buy something from the restaurant.

Paul Reed Smith is a guitar maker and musician and the founder and Managing General Partner of PRS Guitars. PRS Guitars began in 1985 and is the third largest US manufacturer of electric guitars. For decades, PRS has built instruments for internationally famous musicians including Carlos Santana and John Mayer, utilizing his fundamental grasp of how to incorporate physics, woodworking, practical engineering, graphic mathematics, and art into world-renowned products. Paul also enjoys songwriting, performing, and recording music with his band, Eightlock. Personally, Paul cherishes his role as husband, parent, and mentor, and when time allows can be found fishing for barracudas.
