AACC Names New Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer

Anne Arundel Community College named Kellie McCants-Price as its new chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer.

McCants-Price has been interim chief since August 2021 and has been with the college as a faculty member since 2004. In her new position, she takes a significant leadership role in meeting the needs of the college’s increasingly diverse student body while also helping to build a more welcoming climate on campus.

“I’m honored and excited to be chosen to continue the important work of making AACC an inclusive place to learn, work and grow,” McCants-Price said.

A member of the college’s Achieving the Dream, University of Southern California Racial Equity Leadership Academy, she has presented nationally about this work and other diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism initiatives at AACC. McCants-Price also participates in the school’s inaugural Model Course curriculum and serves as a leadership team member. She also leads and facilitates campus intergroup dialogue sessions, which allow for a better understanding of others’ perspectives, backgrounds, and life experiences.

“AACC was the first community college in Maryland – and among the first in the nation –– to have a chief diversity officer with the hiring of our first officer in 2014,” AACC President Dr. Dawn Lindsay said. “I know Dr. McCants-Price will continue to move us forward by focusing on supporting all AACC students, faculty, and staff to feel welcomed, included, respected, and valued.”
