Lowther’s strong start not enough as Baysox blanked in Altoona

Zac Lowther worked seven innings but the Baysox could not get their offense out of neutral as their were shutout by Altoona 5-0 Saturday evening.

The Curve got to Lowther in the third inning. With one down, Brett Pope walked and then scored on a triple to the gap in left-center by Chris Sharpe to start the scoring. Sharpe then came home on a double down the left field line by the drawn in infield by Jared Oliva to make it 2-0. Oliva would later score on a Logan Hill double and Altoona was up 3-0.

Lowther would settle in and work four scoreless frames afterwards to get through seven innings while striking out seven batters.

Bowie just could not get to Altoona starter Pedro Vasquez. The Altoona ace worked eight scoreless innings allowing three hits while striking out four batters.

The Baysox conclude their three-game series in Altoona Sunday, August 18th with Alex Wells on the hill. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior to first pitch on 1430-AM WNAV and 99.9 FM in the city of Annapolis
